BRERETON  AND  RAVENHILL  PARISH  COUNCIL

 

Minutes of a meeting of the Parish Hall and Property Management Committee held at the Parish Hall, Ravenhill Park, Brereton, on Wednesday, 5th February 2020.

 

Present

 

Alderman R Easton [Chairman] and Councillors K Ansell, Mrs DM Easton and DR Johnson.

 

Apologies for absence were received from Mrs P Ansell, Mrs G Harvey, JC Harvey and                 Mrs L Johnson.

 

Mr PG Davies [Parish Clerk] was also present.

 

  1. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

 

No declarations of interest were given at the commencement of the meeting.

 

  1. MINUTES

 

RESOLVED

 

That the minutes of the meeting held on 8th January 2020, be approved and signed as a correct record.

 

  1. CAR PARKING – RAVENHILL PARK

 

The Clerk reported that no response had been received from the District Council to the letter of invitation from the Parish Council for officers to attend this meeting.

 

Councillor Molineux had been given material by the District Council relating to a physical count of the number of vehicles entering the park between 7.00 am and 10.00 pm.

 

The Committee expressed its disappointment that no officers were in attendance at this meeting and it was

 

RESOLVED

 

That the Clerk write again to the District Council requesting an early response to his letter and, in particular, support and co-operation to enable this project to proceed as soon as possible.

 

  1. PARISH HALL – PROGRESS REPORT

           

  • Hire Fee Income – Update

 

The Committee noted details of the hire fee income for the months of December 2019 and January 2020 as compared with the same periods last year.

 

  • Floor Polisher

 

The Chairman reported that he was adapting a floor polisher for use by the Caretaker in the Parish Hall.

 

  • Projects for Forthcoming Year

 

The Committee itemised the following projects for implementation in the current year:-

 

  1. Painting exterior of the Parish Hall
  2. Repairing the guttering
  3. Repair work to drains
  4. Levelling of the entrance drive

 

 

The Chairman kindly undertook to obtain quotations for items 1 to 3 above and               Councillor D Johnson would secure quotations for item 4.

 

  • Fire Procedure

 

The Clerk circulated a new form which would be used to explain the fire procedure to new hirers..

 

  • BRACE

 

The Committee reviewed the hiring of the Parish Hall to BRACE for the Brereton Carnival.

 

Cognisant of past issues relating to this hiring, it was

 

RESOLVED

 

  1. That BRACE be not permitted to hire the Parish Hall for Brereton Carnival
  2. That the church, Landor Society and Heritage Committee be authorised to use the facility as in previous years
  3. That St John Ambulance be offered the use of the Police Office for first aid purposes

 

  1. FINANCE REPORT

 

The Report of the Clerk showing the income and expenditure for the Parish Hall as at          7th January 2020, was received for information and noted.

 

  1. CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

 

The Parish Council considered the details of a quotation from Lighting Futures Limited to provide additional Christmas lights in Armitage Road.

 

RESOLVED

 

That the quotation from Lighting Futures Limited in the sum of £2,670.00 to provide six additional lighting features along Armitage Road, be accepted.
