Dog Fouling

posted in: Latest News | 0

The Parish Council would welcome the support of local residents in identifying the relatively small number of irresponsible dog owners who fail to pick up after their dog has fouled. Such information as days, times, locations, descriptions of dogs and owners would be beneficial so that resources could be targeted to the relevant areas at times when they were most likely to catch offenders.

If any resident is willing to provide a witness statement in relation to a fouling incident that they had observed, officers from the District Council would be prepared to issue a Fixed Penalty Notice to the dog owner, provided that the report is credible and not malicious or vexatious. All complaints remain confidential and complainant’s details are not disclosed without permission. Furthermore, in the vast majority of cases, Fixed Penalties are paid by the offender and only a very small proportion progressed to court hearings.
